Age, Vasectomy and Ejaculation
I'm 62 and had a vasectomy at about 50. As I recall, the urologist who performed the procedure told me that there could be a significant (up to 30%) reduction in ejaculate volume. Seems like that was so. Over the last couple of years the volume became very low and ejaculation was difficult to achieve, either through sex with my wife or masturbating. Recently, a new urologist treated me for an enlarged prostate with microwave therapy -great improvement. He also treated me for low testosterone with pellets under the skin. My libido is fine. However, the ejaculations are still delayed, with very low volume. I’ve been a fitness and health buff most of my life and my weight, blood pressure, etc are all fine. No need for Viagra. Am I just expecting too much of the prostate and seminal vesicles for my age? Does the vasectomy have something to do with this?

Hey Stillgoing,
You answered all the questions that I would ask but one, how is your fluid intake. I have the same issue regarding low volume. My research has suggested that getting fully hydrated each and every day may help some.
Good Luck

Thanks 1KG for replying,
I think my hydration is OK. Urologists often attribute this condition to low testosterone. I'm wondering what is normal for age 62 assuming good testosterone levels. Have you also had a vasectomy? I've seen several personal reports of low semen volume after a vasectomy.
Good luck to you too

You're welcome SG,
Yes, I had a vasectomy when I was 25. I noticed the decrease of 30% or more right away. No one told me that would be a side effect and I was very disappointed. Then as I got older, I noticed still less volume, slowly over the years. From my research, hydration is the only avenue to increase ejaculate and it won't give you more than you "have", just being properly hydrated will give you the best chance. So many factors weigh in, I don't believe other than historical data such as Masters and Johnson or better yet Kinsey, has anyone studied this but Kinsey is a good source as they measured everything.
Take care, 1KG
