S.A.D.D.

By Vegas32 on Jan 31, 2012 at 10:52 PM

I saw an article from Ian Kerner in askmen.com about S.A.D.D. (sexual attention deficit disorder) and it really didnt have any contact info or suggestions for further reading about his research. I feel like I suffer from this and was hoping for some more detail. Has Dr Kerner published any books about this topic?

Thanks!

Hi There -- thanks for writing. Just to be clear: SADD is not a real condition, but rather a term I made up to describe a trend I've been seeing: men who are unable to focus on sex with their partner because their becoming accustomed to high levels of visual variety via porn. So I just wanted to be clear about that. In my view, there's nothing wrong with masturbation and there's nothing wrong with porn, but porn makes masturbation really easy, and it can be a slippery slope if you feel like too much of your sexual energy is being directed towards porn and not your partner. If you're having a problem focusing during sex, or reaching orgasm, it's probably time for a porn/masturbation break.
