Husband's back injury and sex

By Jmdmckenzie on Aug 4, 2012 at 9:30 PM

My husband has been dealing with a back injury (bulging disks L2-L5, herniated disk L5-S1) and knee injury (torn acl and torn meniscus) for over a year now. Despite his disability, we're still having sex 2-3 times a week. He's always in pain, but never takes anything stronger than ibuprofen. The desire for each other (five years and four kids later) is stronger than when we first met. I want to know if anyone has any recommendations for techniques and positions that would still give pleasure, but alleviate some of his pain. Thank you.

Have sex on the dining room table! I'm only sort of kidding, but a hard flat surface may help -- the floor would work too, or perhaps a futon. Also, pillows under the knees might alleviate some of the pain, but you have to experiment with positions, because everyone's back pain is different. Wish there was an easy answer, but experiment with different positions -- and check out "sex furniture" made by Liberator, which offers lots of support for different positions.
